THE ROYAL MAIL has assured anxious mailing houses that despite the planned axing of its DMARC commission scheme next April, a similar arrangement will be put in place - albeit one with more stringent qualifying criteria. Although the matter is currently under discussion with the DMA, many mailing houses are uneasy that the scheme’s abolition was announced without prior consultation. Says Nick McConnell, sales and client services director at Mailcom: 'We acknowledge that it’s an archaic scheme but we would like to be involved in deciding on a replacement. One option currently under consideration is a scheme jointly run by the DMA, Royal Mail and the ASA.
