Postage and office services company Mail Boxes Etc, a division of US Office Products, is reviewing its creative and media duties. Billings are thought to be about $20 million.
Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide in Los Angeles previously held the creative account, while media duties were the responsibility of O&M’s WPP stablemate MindShare.
The decision to part with the sitting agencies was described by the company’s senior marketing director Laurie Malmstrom as mutual. “We believe that we need to be more retail focused,” she explained, “not just brand-focused.”
Malmstrom added that Mail Boxes would be looking at “one-stop shops” in the review, and would also contemplate “unbundling services” which could then be split between shops.
A decision is slated for June or July.
