LONDON - A new online video-on-demand service that will enable viewers to watch music videos, comedy programming, movie trailers and news broadcasts was launched in the UK and Ireland this week by Viacom-owned MTV Networks.
    Branded MTV Overdrive, the service went live on Sunday and will be rolled out in other European nations beginning with Germany in a few months.
    It has been available in the USA for a year and in Canada since last month. A similar service has been accessible in Latin America since September.
    Available free Overdrive carries 15-second ad spots that appear periodically in a viewer-enlargeable box in a corner of the computer screen.
