NEW YORK: US media giant Viacom continues to shake out top-flight executives as it chases success in the digital marketplace. Latest to exit is MTV Networks president and chief operating officer Michael Wolf, just over a year after his arrival from management consultants McKinsey.

His resignation was not entirely unexpected, following the ousting of Viacom's erstwhile ceo Tom Freston by the increasingly impatient veteran chairman Sumner Redstone [WARC News: 06-Sept-06].

During Wolf's tenure Viacom acquired a number of internet gaming and film startups, and he steered MTV to a groundbreaking deal with Google last summer [WARC News: 08-Aug-07].
