UNITED NEWS & MEDIA has launched a subscription-free internet service via The Express, following in the shadow of The Sun which went online in March [Debrief, 7-34]. The Express has enlisted LineOne as a partner in the venture. Jointly-owned by UN&M and BT, LineOne, which converted its ISP service to a freebie in March, now claims 200,000 subscribers. The Express promoted the new service by cover-mounting 350,000 CD-Roms on its Saturday magazine.
