Colin Gottlieb, a founding father of Manning Gottlieb Media, is to relinquish his post to become chief executive of Omnicom's OMD Europe media network.

Omicom, which already holds a 76% stake in MGM, is to acquire the residual stock from Gottlieb and his co-founder Nick Manning. The latter will continue to run the shop as a discrete brand within OMD Europe, reporting to his former partner.

Gottlieb’s appointment is part of OMD’s strategy to become a major force in global media, until now hampered by an unwieldy reporting structure under which OMD directors were responsible to Omicom’s trio of agency groups: TBWA, DDB and BBDO.

OMD’s European headquarters in Paris will transfer to London, with Gottlieb reporting to OMD president Daryl Simm, pending the appointment of a global chief executive.
