Five, the smallest of Britain’s terrestrial TV stations, has found a new chief executive to succeed Dawn Airey, who left to join satellite giant BSkyB in September [WAMN: 23-Sep-02].
Filling Airey’s shoes from early April will be Jane Lighting, 46, ceo of pay-TV group Flextech.
The appointment met with the approval of Airey, who once described Five’s programming as “films, football and f**king”. Continuing her penchant for alliteration, she described her successor as “commercial, canny and caring”.
