Goodyear Tire & Rubber (calendar Q4)
    Losses at the world's largest tyre maker were down to $434.4 million (€364m ;£245m) for the last quarter of 2003 compared with $1.19 billion for the same period in 2002. Sales for the quarter increased 11.6% to $3.91bn.
    Annual sales for 2003 rose to $15.1bn compared with $13.9bn for 2002.
    The financial report was delayed because of an inquiry into accounting methods at the group's European operation.

SABMiller (full year 2003/4)
    The world's second largest brewer, embroiled in a takeover battle for China's Harbin Brewery, posted a 49% rise in pre-tax profits.
    The company posted earnings before interest, tax and amortisation of $1.89 billion (€1.5bn; £1bn) on annual turnover of $12.65bn.
    The company, fighting with rival Anheuser-Busch for control of the Chinese brewer, said it was beginning to see the first results of the turnaround of flagship US brand, Miller.
    Earnings in central America rose 36% and in Europe 39%. Earnings growth in South Africa was 54%.
