KFC IN SAFETY RECALL OF KIDS' PROMO GIFT

News, 14 August 2000

Following an incident in which a three-inch green plastic container adhered to the face of a 19-month old girl, Louisville-based fast food chain KFC has recalled 425,000 Tangled Treeples toys featured in a June kids’ meal promotion.

Although the girl's mother was able to remove the container, and the child was uninjured, the company has recalled the containers along with a range of seven collectible animal figures.

According to a KFC spoke, the toys had been tested and approved by two ‘gold standard’ safety laboratories. But “anything like this provides a potential opportunity to ensure you provide products safe as possible,” he said.

KFC is now reviewing its safety procedures but it is uncertain how the recall will affect future KFC promotions.
