J Walter Thompson is overhauling its global management structure as it tries to take a more localised approach.

The WPP Group unit is dividing its monolithic regional units (such as Europe or Asia) into smaller 'clusters', each of which will be managed by one executive.

"What we want to do is be closer to clients, closer to the marketing issues and just be faster and quicker to address issues," explained JWT president Michael Maedel.
