WPP-owned network J Walter Thompson has announced that Bob Jeffrey, president of its New York shop, will take on the same role for the whole of JWT North America, effective immediately.

Remaining in New York, Jeffrey takes responsibility for 25 offices across the US and Canada. He replaces former JWT North America chairman Peter Schweitzer, who left the post when he became president/ceo of JWT Worldwide in January [WAMN: 19-Jan-01].

Jeffrey has been at JWT New York since 1998, in which time the office has brought in $1 billion in new billings. JWT North America saw overall billings increase 20% last year to $4.7bn.
