PARIS: Outdoor advertising giant JCDecaux posted full-year profits of €221 million ($341.7m; £169.5m) for 2007, a rise of 9.9% over the previous year and driven by demand for ad space in public transit systems and airports.

Sales last year rose 8.2% to €2.11bn. The French-headquartered firm expects revenues to grow around 6% during 2008, fuelled by business wins in China and India.

Decaux signed its first contract in India in March 2006 and in December 2007 inked a 15-year deal to manage advertising for the Shanghai metro.

Comments co-ceo Jean-Francois Decaux: "Emerging markets are a growth engine for our teams and for results." He also expressed confidence that sales in the UK and France would improve during the third quarter and that growth in the US remains "strong".
