Consumer healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson has joined the ranks of big name sponsors backing the Olympic Games.

The US-headquartered company is the twelfth partner unveiled by the Games' ruling body, the International Olympic Committee.

The J&J agreement starts immediately and runs until the end of the Beijing 2008 event. It includes global marketing rights of the company's consumer products, OTC pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Says J&J vp of corporate affairs Brian Perkins: "This global opportunity will enable Johnson & Johnson to provide enhanced health education, services and care to people around the world while expanding our reach in emerging markets and strengthening our businesses in developed areas."

Among the other Olympic partners are Coca-Cola, Kodak, McDonalds, Panasonic, Samsung and Visa.
