The strong Irish economy is rubbing-off on the nation's advertising industry.

According to Initiative Media Worldwide's Dublin unit, the Irish market is set to grow by 8.6% in 2005, in contrast to predicted global ad growth of under 6%.

Initiative says Irish advertising expenditure has risen strongly over the past five years, while many other countries have struggled to return to the levels of growth seen before 2001.

Irish TV advertising grew by 5.8% in 2004, while online advertising jumped by one-third last year and is poised to overtake outdoor advertising. Print advertising grew 9.8%, bolstered by strong newspaper performance. Magazine advertising, however, declined in 2004.
