DUBLIN: Irish telecoms billionaire and "dissident shareholder" Dennis O'Brien (pictured), who has been pressurising Ireland's Independent News & Media group to sell it loss-making UK newspaper titles, has increased his stake in the company to 19.35%.

Ceo and biggest shareholder Sir Anthony O'Reilly, who controls 26% of IN&M, has been resisting calls to dispose of The Independent and Independent on Sunday, describing them as "substantial calling cards" in the publisher's quest to expand its overseas operations.
