LONDON: Iris Worldwide – a relatively low profile London 'integrated' agency – has prised at least a couple of fingers from 180 Amsterdam's hitherto vice-like grip on Adidas' £100 million ($185.4m; €125.3m) global ad account.

The London shop, which already services a minor slice of Adidas business, retailer campaigns, has been named as lead creative advertising agency on the German giant's global running business.

"This signals our emergence as a global creative force," whoops Iris Worldwide's joint creative director Shaun McIlrath.

180 Amsterdam was somewhat less elated.

Co-founder and managing partner Guy Haywood denied that the Adidas business is slipping through his agency's fingers after its decade-long tenure.

"We intend to make this a temporary assignment," he said. "We have been led to believe that there are still running assignments for us next year. This is a small setback."
