Campbell Mithun of Minneapolis is to subsume its Interpublic sibling, the Chicago unit of Bozell. The move, announced yesterday, is a U-turn in Interpublic Group’s original re-engineering plan [WAMN: 11-Jul-01] and reverses the decision to slot Bozell Chicago into McCann WorldGroup.
The about-face is due to the ambitions of Les Mouser, president/ceo of Campbell Mithun who is eager to grab the shop’s FoodWorks food service and its association marketing skills.
Enthused Mouser: “We've built our agency on full-contact marketing and that's what Bozell does. They have scale and scope in their clients and specific practices; and we bring greater resources to their clients in things like Hispanic marketing via Casanova Pendrill and package design via Pederson Gesk."
Bozell Chicago’s executive vice president and general manage Tom Hayden shared the hymn-sheet with Mouser: “This is the best of several scenarios that could have occurred," he said. “I feel very comfortable that this is a very, very good fit for us.” He will continue to run the office under the Campbell Mithun banner.
