The San Francisco office of Saatchi & Saatchi has been chosen to handle the (estimated) $40 million account of database specialist Informix Software.

Saatchi replaces the same city’s Young & Rubicam office, the incumbent since last summer, and kicks-off with a global campaign involving TV, outdoor, online and print ads, designed to strengthen the client’s brand and its database technologies products.

Informix president Jim Foy declared his confidence in the agency, citing its work for Hewlett-Packard and Barclay Global Investors as evidence of its worldwide capabilities.

Julie Bauer, the shop’s president/ceo, was similarly ebullient, describing the database software market as an excellent growth opportunity for Saatchi.
