BANGALORE: Major Indian corporations like Wipro Technologies and Infosys are heightening their focus on China, in just one indication of the formation of stronger links between these emerging markets.
Infosys has announced plans to use Beijing as a base from which to roll out a range of new technology projects across China, while Wipro is in the process of establishing a multi-product manufacturing unit there.
NR Narayan Murthy, founder chairman of Infosys Technologies, said: "The high quality of Chinese talent, the sound work ethic, the high learnability and customer orientation make China an ideal location for our IT projects to be completed."
The business systems-to-consumer goods giant Tata Group is another Indian player keen to exploit the opportunities available in China.
Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Sons, argued that despite being global competitors in many ways, the two countries can find ways to become complementary economic powers which "synergize the strengths of each other".
