SUNNYVALE, California: Two doughty warriors of many a bloody corporate campaign are shortly to march into Yahoo's boardroom and report to their commander-in-chief Carl Icahn – already ensconced in the firm's bunker.

The warrior duo, both former ceos – John Chapple of telco Nextel Partners and Viacom veteran Frank J Biondi Junior – were selected by Yahoo from a list of nine nominees drawn-up by Icahn.

The deal was struck between the corporate raider (who holds 5% of Yahoo's stock) and directors of the beleaguered internet portal after Icahn withdrew his threat to oust the company's entire board at its annual meeting on August 1.
