Swedish-based global furniture giant Ikea is harnessing the pulling power of lavatory walls to recruit copywriters and project managers to its staff, revealed a company executive yesterday.

Flushed with success at the results, Ikea's Jimmy Ostholm told a Swedish newspaper: "In the toilet people are more relaxed and receptive to our message. After only four days we had received 60 applications. That`s four or five times more than we would get from a normal newspaper ad."

Ikea’s ads, which target young professionals, are sited on the walls of restaurant toilets in Malmo`s chic Lilla Torget district. Mr Ostholm reports that the cost is one tenth of newspaper ad rates and produces better results.
