Hungary's Competition Regulator Fines Tesco

News, 11 July 2006

BUDAPEST - UK headquartered supermarket giant Tesco has been fined 100 million forints ($455k; €356k; £247k) by the Hungarian competition authority GVH for publishing misleading information in a promotional pamphlet.

The regulator says it investigated Tesco's claim to be selling digital cameras at a cut price and giving memory cards as gifts. In reality the discount was less than stated and the cards were already included in the camera pack.
