LOS ANGELES: Advertisers will be encouraged by Hulu.com ceo Jason Kilar's prediction that US television companies are heading toward the simultaneous global release of TV entertainment spectaculars, series, reality and other popular shows.

Kilar, who unveiled the beta version of the NBC Universal/News Corporation video-sharing website earlier this week, says the upsurge in online video makes the move inevitable.

Most major movies are released worldwide at the same time in an attempt to foil pirates, but many hit US TV shows premiere domestically, and are seen in other countries weeks or even months later.

Comments Kilar: "Television is heading in the same direction [as movies]. At the end of the day, the users will win and will get access to content on their own terms."
