Former sales promotion guru and latterly director-general of the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers, John Hooper is to become non-executive chairman of the Radio Advertising Bureau. He will replace Peter Warren, who steps down at the end of March.
In his new role Hooper will lean heavily on his little black book of senior level contacts at major advertisers, his RAB brief being to strengthen the links between the commercial radio industry and top-gun clients. This contrasts with Warren’s agency-oriented strategy.
“I am proud to have chaired the RAB over five very successful years when radio built its share of revenue from 4% to 6%,” Warren said in a valedictory statement. “John is a good friend and an outstanding professional. I know he will bring much to the RAB.”
