The brothers Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja, members of the sibling quartet named in Indian corruption investigations, yesterday formalised their interest in acquiring Express Newspapers [WAMN: 16-Oct-00] with a bid believed to be over £120 million.

Those close to the negotiations say the Hinduja offer tops that already tabled by the Daily Mail & General Trust. Meantime, all eyes are on Conrad Black’s Telegraph Group which is expected to throw its hat in the ring shortly.
