French-headquartered advertising agency group Havas has appointed Hervé Philippe as its chief financial officer.

He comes to the company from electronics group Sagem and replaces Jacques Hérail, who has been with Havas for 20 years and in the CFO role since 1996.

Ceo Philippe Wahl says of Philippe: "He . . . has a strong understanding of financial operations. I am very pleased he will be joining our management team in this very important role."

And Philippe comments: "After many years spent at Sagem, I am looking forward to devoting all my energy to helping achieve the goals of a worldwide communication group like Havas."

The agency group has undergone a turbulent year with the ousting of chairman/ceo Alain de Pouzilhac by corporate raider and now group chairman Vincent Bolloré. Havas owns Euro RSCG Worldwide, Arnold Worldwide Partners and Media Planning Group.
