A $1 billion lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court, New York, by the Hispanic Newspaper Network against Young & Rubicam and its soon to be WPP sister-shops Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide and J Walter Thompson.

The writ alleges that the trio discriminated against ethnic minority-owned publications by excluding them from the ad schedules for federal government organizations such as the Postal Service, Marine Corps and the US Census.

Lips were firmly zipped at the defendant agencies when invited to comment on the matter.
