H&R BLOCK HIRES CME TO HANDLE $100M GLOBAL MARKETING ACCOUNT

News, 20 June 2000

Kansas City-based global financial services giant H&R Block has appointed Minneapolis agency Campbell Mithun Esty to handle advertising, direct marketing and sales promotion for its $100 million global business. A second appointment named Dieste & Partners of Dallas as agency of record for the Hispanic market.

The duo supplant several Young & Rubicam units, although Y&R subsidiary Media Edge, New York, has retained Block’s media planning/buying business.

Also shortlisted for the Block business was DDB Worldwide, Chicago, sole also-ran after Boston shop Hill Holliday cited “workload concerns” and withdrew from the race earlier this month.

Block’s interactive marketing review is still in progress, handled by Select Resources International, West Hollywood, Calif.
