Digital women’s lifestyle channel Breeze is being scrapped by owner Granada Media following poor ratings.
Satellite operator BSkyB, which has a stake in the channel, will stop broadcasting Breeze on January 31, the same date it is taken from terrestrial dTV service ITV Digital, which Granada co-owns.
Cable firms NTL and Telewest, meanwhile, will continue to carry the channel until the end of next month.
There will be no redundancies, however, as staff will be shifted to men’s lifestyle channel Granada Men & Motors, which Granada wants to expand by increasing its broadcasting output by four hours. The service will start at 5pm every day instead of 9pm.
