LONDON: The UK's biggest commercial broadcaster ITV is feeling Google's hot breath on its neck as the web giant pursues the title of the country's biggest single advertising income generator.
In 2007, Google recorded UK ad revenues of £1.3 billion ($2.53bn; €1.72bn), while ITV will release its full-year numbers next month.
Media agency holding company Group M expects the broadcaster to have earned around £1.32bn in ad sales for 2007, as well as a further £100 million in sponsorship.
Google's year-on-year growth was a robust 45%, but well short of the spectacular 80% growth it achieved in 2006.
