LONDON: Bebo has overtaken Google in the popularity stakes among UK web users, a result that will delight Yahoo! which has just inked an advertising deal with the social networking site.

Researcher ComScore says Bebo - headquartered in San Francisco - attracted 8.6 billion impressions last month compared with Google's 8.46bn. A year ago the site, which targets the 13-24 age range, was two billion pages behind the search giant.

  • Meantime, in China, domestic search engine has launched an online video advertising service that allows marketers to post commercials on around 160,000 sites which already display text ads it has placed.

    Baidu TV will give advertisers access to more than 140 million Chinese web users.
