MOUNTAIN VIEW, California: Google and the biggest US radio company Clear Channel Communications have inked a deal that will allow the web search leader to place advertising for its online customers on more than 675 radio stations across the nation.
The multi-year agreement will give Google advertisers who had not previously relied on radio direct access to Clear Channel's national distribution system through an easy-to-use interface.
In addition, customers will be able to target their campaigns, reaching particular audiences at specific times, and get quick feedback about their campaigns.
Comments Clear Channel ceo John Hogan: "It represents an opportunity to put what is arguably the hottest sales organization in the world to work selling our inventory, and we're very excited about that."
The deal will give Google advertisers access to premium ad inventory — in contrast to some of the search titan's deals with newspapers that allow it to sell only leftover space [WARC News: 07-Nov-06].
Financial details have not been made public, but the partnership will add a new twist to the radio company's protracted private-equity buyout. The $18.7 billion (€14.18bn; £9.72bn) sale is scheduled for a delayed shareholder vote Thursday [WARC News: 15-Mar-07].
