MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA - Beating rival bids from Yahoo and Microsoft for licensing rights to a new search technology that offers instant answers to queries without the need to go to another website, Google has acquired the Orion Search Engine.
Developed at Australia's University of New South Wales, Orion's inventor Ori Allon (26) is understood to have moved to Google's Californian campus to further develop the algorithm.
In a press release last year, the university claimed the technology could revolutionise search engines.
