LONDON: Soccer icon David Beckham is to be replaced as the global face of the Gillette shaving brand by a trio of sporting superstars: golfer Tiger Woods, tennis ace Roger Federer and Frenchman Thierry Henry, who plays for UK football team Arsenal.

Former England soccer captain and, latterly, Real Madrid bench warmer, Beckham has signed a $250 million (€192m; £126m) contract to see out his fading career at LA Galaxy [WARC News: 15-Jan-06]. However, he could still negotiate a US extension of his two-year £40m Gillette deal which expires in June.

A BBDO advertising campaign for the brand featuring the new trio of smooth chins will launch in the summer.
