WIESBADEN - Europe's largest economy, failed to grow in the fourth quarter as consumers pared spending and companies curbed production.
Germany's gross domestic product (the aggregated value of all goods and services) was unchanged from the third quarter, when it increased 0.6%, reported the Federal Statistics Office on Monday.
A spokesman said the economy actually expanded by 0.01%, but the figure was rounded down to zero. Economists had estimated 0.2 percent growth, according to a Bloomberg News survey.
