Four global media networks are pitching this week for the European segment of Sony Corporation’s $1 billion worldwide media planning and buying business. Sony Electronics, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment are all up for grabs.
The European tourney follows February’s award to Universal McCann, New York, of Sony’s $600 million North American media account, and the bestowing earlier this month of the Asia Pacific region to Zenith Media [spend unstated].
Fighting their corners in Europe are Starcom Motive (a unit of Bcom3/Publicis), OMD (Omnicom) MindShare (WPP) and Zenith Media (Publicis/Cordiant). The decision date is not known, nor is the estimated value of the business.
At the tail end of the global review is Latin America, for which a date has yet to be announced.
