Four agencies have been selected by the White House Office of National AIDS Policy to create public service ads raising awareness of HIV among specific target groups.

The themes of three of the campaigns were unveiled yesterday. Leo Burnett Worldwide in Chicago will target young gay men stressing the need for action and themed ‘Why are we killing ourselves?’.

San Francisco’s TBWA/Chiat/Day will aim its ads at behaviour-influencing ‘gatekeepers’ with a campaign titled ‘Let’s be positive about HIV’, while New York shop Ciociola & Co will create ads with a ‘What you don’t know could kill me’ theme, targeting urban minority youth and encouraging HIV testing.

The White House Office also announced that DDB Worldwide in New York will generate ads targeting women.
