Five finalists will compete for the US Department of Defense’s $20 million Joint Recruitment account.

The Department, say insiders, has narrowed the review from more than a dozen show to incumbent Bates Worldwide, Foote Cone and Belding and D’Arcy (all New York), plus Atlanta’s J Walter Thompson and Mullen in Wenham, Massachusetts.

The existing contract with Bates lapses at the end of September, and a final decision in the review is expected in October.
