Associated New Media, the online arm of Associated Newspapers, has launched a portal targeted at women and branded femail.co.uk.
This replaces Associated’s former female friendly site CharlotteStreet.co.uk, whose brand now transfers to femail’s community area. In charge is Maria Trkulja, quondam editor of Now Magazine, who will lead a team of fifteen editorial staff.
The site’s content includes news, TV, relationships, sex, health and food and drink. Produced in-house, it also features material from partners such as netdoctor.co.uk and UKPhonebook.com. Femail will also utilise content from sister-sites such as UK Plus and This is Money.
The new portal is initially funded solely by advertising but ANM hopes that over time it will attract increasing revenues from online retail. E-commerce deals are currently in place with vitamin company GNC and fellow Associated subsidiaries Zoom.co.uk and Teletext.
