SYDNEY - Until last month a TV gameshow host [WAMN: 14-Feb-06], Eddie McGuire, the new ceo of Australia's Nine Network, started visiting media buyers this week to drum up revenue support for the ailing broadcaster.
Nine, owned by the Packer family's media and gaming conglomerate Publishing and Broadcasting, has suffered bady at the hands of the Seven and Ten networks during January and February.
It has been frozen out of a string of advertising deals exclusive to the rival networks - among them Nestlé, Sony, Procter & Gamble, MasterFoods, Hyundai, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Pepcom (Pizza Hut and KFC) and Reckitt Benckiser.
