LUXEMBOURG - Europe's largest commercial broadcaster reported 2005 full year profit up by 46.7%, driven by expansion in the UK and southern and eastern Europe.
RTL Group, the most profitable unit of media giant Bertelsmann, raised net income for the twelve months to December 31 to €537 million ($645.74m; £369.43m), up year-on-year from €366m.
In an attempt to counter sagging ad sales in its home - and largest - market Germany, RTL expanded its interests in Britain, Russia, Portugal and Spain.
The group boasts interests in 34 TV channels and 34 radio stations in eleven European countries.
