Global wireless-communications giant Ericsson is believed to have fired incumbent Young & Rubicam Advertising of New York and London in a review of its $100 million (estimated) global consumer account.

The rumor mill has it that Y&R fell by the wayside after reaching a shortlist of two with London-headquartered Bartle Bogle Hegarty. But having given Y&R the heave-ho, say those close to the situation, Ericsson appears ambivalent about BBH and is again eyeing former contenders Abbott Mead Vickers/BBDO and TBWA Worldwide.

However, Ericsson remains zip-lipped about the situation and the reported exit of Y&R, saying only that that the review is still “under way”.
