Ebookers.com provided a shot in the arm for the online travel industry and the dotcom sector as a whole on Monday with the announcement that it has made it to profitability, though admittedly only in its underlying figures.

For the quarter ending in September, the internet travel agency posted earnings of £0.2 million, though this “excluded tax, depreciation, amortisation and stock compensation expense.”

However, it warned it will report “modest negative” earnings in Q4 due to costs incurred in establishing operations in India.
