The Walt Disney Internet Group and computer company Compaq have agreed a co-marketing deal worth $100 million.
The three-year alliance will see Compaq providing the necessary “power” for Disney’s websites – among them ESPN.com, ABC.com and Disney.com; in return the media group will purchase hardware and equipment from its new partner.
Disney websites will carry ads for Compaq, which will in turn supply PCs and servers for the Internet Zone at the Walt Disney World theme park. In addition, Compaq’s computers will give built-in prominence to Disney’s primary website properties.
Compaq also intends to market the Disney alliance heavily in its ‘inspiration technology’ campaign.
The partnership has evolved from an existing ten-year deal sealed in February, in which Compaq sponsors the Mission:SPACE attraction currently under construction at Walt Disney World.
