Burbank-based Walt Disney Company has awarded its consolidated $500 million media planning and buying business in the US to Bcom3’s Starcom North America in Chicago.

Long-serving incumbent Initiative Media pulled out of the race Thursday, reasons unstated, leaving Starcom in possession of the field. Another finalist was Zenith Media in New York.

Starcom is no stranger to the Disney ethos, having already managed media tasks for the group’s theme park and cruise units.
