PARIS: Growth in demand for digital television and data services has boosted profits at Eutelsat, the world's third-largest commercial satellite operator.

The firm, which has 23 broadcasting and communications satellites, reported a net profit increase of 7% to €40.2 million ($51.6m; £27.1m) in the year ended June 30. Among its customers are CNN, BBC World and Al Jazeera TV channels.

Ceo Guiliano Berretta said more than 80% of sales came from digital video, data and broadband markets and he believed improved demand would see sales this year rise by about 5% to €800m.
