BONN - Europe's largest telecoms operator announced plans to launch a new Microsoft-based internet TV service in Germany later this year.
Neither Deutsche Telekom nor Microsoft is willing to place a value on their venture - but it is seen as a coup for the US software titan, not only its largest European contract to date but second only to its $400 million (€330.71m; £228.79m) stateside deal with AT&T.
According to the telco, Microsoft's TV IPTV Edition software platform is a critical element in its new services - among them simultaneous high-definition TV streams and interactive options.
