J C Decaux will take on Viacom for the world's biggest outdoor ad contract: New York City.
The business is currently handled on a rolling basis by US giant Viacom. However, it is being reviewed for the first time in a decade, and French group Decaux has already thrown its hat into the ring.
The New York business is worth an estimated $1 billion (€820 million; £548m) over twenty years. A bid is also expected from Clear Channel's outdoor arm.
