MADRID: Danone, the food group, and BMW, the automaker, are among the companies rated as having the best reputations by shoppers in Spain.
The Reputation Institute, the consultancy, conducted a survey of 4,840 adults in the country in order to establish which firms they viewed most favourably.
Danone took the top spot overall, followed by Nutrexpa, another packaged food specialist, while BMW claimed third.
Google, the search engine, and Nestlé, the owner of brands like Nespresso and Perrier, completed the list of the five most highly-regarded organisations.
Hewlett-Packard, the IT giant, Volkswagen, the auto marque, Nokia, the telecoms provider, Philips, the electronics manufacturer, and Mercadona, the retailer, made up the top ten.
By category, consumer electronics and technology were some of the sectors which secured the most respect, while the energy, financial services and telecoms industries all received negative appraisals.
"In the current economic situation, having a good corporate reputation is a crucial factor to ensure sustainable growth," Frenando Prado, general director of the Reputation Institute Spain, said.
