UK media group Daily Mail & General Trust has sold its 40% holding in the Soccernet website to the Walt Disney Internet Group, already the holder of a 60% stake in the former joint venture.

The terms of the deal are firmly under the wraps, with Disney conceding only that the buy will help it expand its popular sports site.

Says Minard Hamilton, international general manager of ESPN: "We are re-launching [Soccernet] at the beginning of the Premier League season this fall with more original match coverage and analysis, along with expanded interactive and community features, thus providing football fans the world over with the most compelling experience on the Internet."
